lit a myriad
of candles round the ladies
flames ate air without
a care or reason
solstice passed, Lammas beacons
summer yields to fall

No Buffer
unity keeps one’s
place that transition changes
ignoring buffers
(written for 3-word Wednesday)

“How do you pick up the threads of an old life? Frodo
Threads
do we do when the thread breaks
part is cut away
mend it and begin
again the weave that is life
changes the pattern
yet as the fabric

sitting on the water’s edge – tossing pebbles
watching waves on a hazy summer afternoon
watch the sunset – then the moon
walk along the shore – barefoot on wet sand
prints erased as if they never were
by the waves – the endless waves
the spray on my face – wind in my hair and
you on my mind.

feel like a newly
budding
growing
flower
reaching upward
toward
the
light
drinking I the
moisture
breathing in the
air
doting on the
tender
loving
care
once quashed or
overlong
untended
content to die for
now and
sow my seeds
in
other
fields

morning crept across
the lawn, tender tiptoes on
wet grass, chill shudders
breezes shake dew from
leaves, wake slumbering flowers
in their beds and me
shaking the cobwebs
of dream off to greet morning
toes meet on dirt paths

taunt me but know this
bullies don’t hamper the boots
that pulverize them
small the one who taunts
the object of his envy
he’s already dust
