some sing to all hearts
some ring gently in the soul
some just barely hum

ephemeral words
poems haiku story prose
universe one song

more and more seekers
found enlightenment the fey’s
fondest dreams achieved

second sight became
second nature perilous
gift bound in duty

nature reduced us
to rubble time and again
just water and wind

brown leaves cling to life
loathe to leave their lofty perch
roots await their warmth

sustenance for growth
shared dream of next year’s greening
spring’s awakening

before the christians
stole our days and ways bent them
for their own purpose,

one by one they slew
driving spears through innocent
hearts in their god’s name

matriarchs would not
bend knee nor deny nature
and so forests burned

.

How often have we
been sent back to the cave through
millennia picked

ourselves up began
again but this time prepared
might avoid the caves

she heard the footfall
of war on the horizon
ancient battle call

long hidden heartbeat
of human intolerance
our grave silent spring

chadak could send us
back to inquisition’s flames
so the wyse called out

millisande answered
ruse rehearsed, wands at ready
all answered the call
