I think the first time I heard of ley lines might have been in the ‘Rifts’ RPG. There, the idea was that ley lines and nexuses were powered by the psychic energy of humans who had died. So when WW3 broke out, they went into overdrive and demons from other dimensions broke through the nexus points to invade Earth. 😉
